Welcome to President Lincoln's Cottage

Located on a picturesque hilltop in Washington, DC, President Lincoln's Cottage is the most significant historic site directly associated with Lincoln's presidency aside from the White House. During the Civil War, President Lincoln and his family resided here from June to November of 1862, 1863 and 1864.

All tours of President Lincoln's Cottage are guided and require a ticket: Plan a Visit.

We are long-time residents of the DC area and have been to many historic and natural sites in and around Washington, DC. The tour today was one of the best I have ever been on. You should be proud of the work you have done to present the information in such a clear and entertaining manner. [Our guide] weaved the story of the building, Lincoln and the Civil War into a very interesting tapestry --- and all within one hour!
